PASTOR JOHNNY
CAMPUS CONNECTION 838
MRS. TAMMY

I spent most of my career in the technology field, working with companies like Mercedes-Benz, AT&T, and Oracle. Later, we launched our own consulting company specializing in Human Resources, Financial, and Supply Chain technology. The part I enjoyed most wasn’t just the work—it was the people. Leading teams, building software, and mentoring others in programming, quality assurance, and analysis brought me the greatest fulfillment.

During that time, I was also deeply involved in church life—teaching, serving on committees, and leading as an elder. I even helped launch a new church plant, overseeing areas like technology, finance, compliance, and event planning.

Outside of work, I’ve always loved traveling, entertaining, playing golf, and even occasionally fixing small engines. I also have a soft spot for old-school video games. But above all, I’ve always had a passion for teaching and mentoring. Today, I get to use my experience and my love for God’s Word to encourage and guide college students as they grow into the men and women God designed them to be.

What started as a small Bible study in our home has grown into Campus Connection 838—a home away from home for college students.

It began with just three students, then ten. Before long, we realized many were showing up with fast food for dinner, so we started cooking for them. One simple meal turned into a movement of community and faith. Soon, 22 football players from Jacksonville University joined us, and word spread fast. Our living room filled week after week, and what began as one night a week has now become seven.

Today, Campus Connection 838 is so much more than a Bible study. It’s a family. We walk alongside students through every season of college life—celebrating their wins, praying through their challenges, and cheering them on at every event.

Over 300 students now call this ministry home. We’re still in awe of how God took two people climbing the career ladder and turned our lives 180 degrees to serve Him through this incredible calling. It’s been the greatest blessing, and we can’t wait to see what He does next.

I spent seven years working in the emergency room before transitioning into pharmaceutical sales and clinical research training, where I remained for over 20 years. Later, I worked in home health and hospice care, supporting families through some of life’s most difficult seasons. I have also worked with high school students for over 30 years. While I loved my career, my true passion has always been people—connecting with them, encouraging them, and walking through life alongside them.

Outside of work, I’ve always enjoyed an active lifestyle. I was a marathon runner for many years and love spending time outdoors—whether hiking, skiing, or relaxing at the beach. Through every season, I’ve seen God’s hand in the details of my life, preparing me for something I never expected: a call to college ministry.
